MLA citing question...how do i cite just one part of a sentence from a novel....?

Ohhh that's a good question. I would like to know as well. Though in the writing center the professor told me for a formal essay like from eng1a cl, you have to take the entire quote. If u only take part of it, its like misquoting people. I think maybe if u say something like, to paraphrase a Lisa Abrams quote, "poopoo kaakaa weewaa" and then in ur works cited page have the reference to the full quote, that might he ok. Not sure though. let me know! LOL
