Why do Iraqis continue to blow each other up ? Wasn't freedom and democracy supposed to end all of that ?

Democracy does not work in all parts of the world. Some cultures consider democratically governments as being alien. Islamic culture is one of those cultures that think that because unlike westerners who think that people should be free to exchange ideas on how a government is run. In Islamic culture people view one way as being right and everything else being wrong. Thats what causes all the violence in Iraq. In fact out of 57 Islamic nations in the entire world only 2 are liberal democracies: Mali and Indonesia. Also with India being an exception, stable democracies only work in countries that have a high middle cl population. This is because if basic needs such as food, security, and shelter are not being met for the people, freedom and civil liberties are meaningless. By human nature people would rather have a dictatorship that can feed them and give security then a democracy that can't do either of that.
